SHERIFF ED GONZALEZ has helped our county turn the corner on crime, cutting down on crime incidents by double digits over the past year, getting us through natural disasters safely, and bringing accountability to the Sheriff’s office.
Law enforcement accountability
Ed required body cameras for all uniformed deputies and is now requiring body cameras for all detention officers in the jail – a first for any sheriff’s office in Texas.
Saving lives and property during natural disasters
Ed works with local officials and other first responders to coordinate rescue operations during extreme weather events. At his direction, hundreds of deputies have earned a certification in swift water rescues.
Improving health care and mental health care
Ed partnered with our hospital district to provide health care and mental health care to people in jail, securing nearly $100 million in resources.
“Being sheriff is about more than just police work – it’s about reforming our system to keep seniors, families and children safe.” – Sheriff Ed Gonzalez
